We had to restrict image sizes to half a meg Andrew, but if you download pixresizer (a free program, just google) you can resize single or multiple photos at the click of a button, pretty much instantly, I use it for my website photos.
You can also download The Gimp, it is a free image processing program, works a little like photoshop and great for cropping images, etc.
