chocky,how big was this bird, greenfinch size or a little smaller? the images are'nt very clear but its either a young greenfinch or... looking at how it is feeding, it looks abit like a female siskin ( but they're smaller than greenfinches) it's hard to gauge the size. also a siskin is more heavily streaked. you can make out some streaking in this birds flanks. wing barring is quite prominent on siskins as is on greenfinches. if it is a young bird of either type the plumage might not be defined yet, so your best i.d. tip would be that of size.
