These Coot (and the Moorhens chicks) are just about as cute as it gets in the bird world......don't you think!

Be nice to have got a full frame on these but alas not on this occasion.

Have now added a more heavily cropped image to bring the birds in closer. It also serves to illustrate the quality of the image lost as a result in doing so.

Attempted to add this to the one above but must have done something wrong......Whoooops!

Yes thats a very good point Beryl. I have often criticised wildlife photography which shows animals in 'full frame' which appear to have been photographed in a museum being void of any of the creatures in question being shown in their habitat.

Yes. I some times go in to the full frame if I need to show detail of the insect or feathering detail which is not normally seen. But I do think for the most a little detail is nice and shows the subject off a little better

Suppose it sounds like I'm always going to agree with you Beryl but you are quite right again - and I do agree - macro photography is another matter when it comes to 'full frame'.

Yes Pete. I'm no expert by any means and am still learning but I really like close up detail if I can get and it is useful.
I some tims use a cam-carder to get closer

To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.
