Default Moorhen

Her chicks fell over the waterfall and can't get back up. She was looking after them
They'll be alright as the water below carries on into the Beck river but it was so sad to watch.
Sorry the chick are blurred but naturally they wouldn't be still

Equipment: Nothing but my notebook which is one of the most important parts of birding. To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.

Well documented piece of drama Beryl with the adult looking over the 'fall' at here youngsters below. Pleased you see the problem as not serious so I will do the same.

Thanks Pete.
She was flying up and down to them and they hadn't realised at that time that although narrow just there they will after a while realise there is a good stretch of water beyond. I did some looking around and felt they would be ok . They were very close to the wardens house too.

And the parent bird will follow them Beryl surely. I'm remaining as confident as you on this.

Definitely. She was back and forth. If I had thought for one minute they were in danger I would have contacted the warden/ranger
Here are some more shots of her, so you can see she wasn't going to leave them
