Default Lapwing at Moor Green Lakes - Audio file

Had never really heard them before, but they have a very distinctive call.

Default Well

I have to say I am surprised to discover that the birds that nest every year on the football ground behind us are lapwings. For some reason they nest in the uncut edges of the pitches and are very territorial and apart from making the sounds you recorded they also dive bomb you in an attempt to make you walk away from the chicks in the nest. I must photograph them this year and do a sound recording

You're lucky Topper, they can be very shy.
