This looks like it is going to be the story of month, more here, last month we had a few reports of Trichomoniasis in the pigeon and Dove population, but it appears to have subsided.
Will update this thread when more news appears about this and whether there is anything we need to do regarding feeding etc. |

It would now appear from the events of the last 24hrs, that the bug may have been imported with partially processed turkey meat from Hungary.
What is also concerning, is that what the public believe to be turkey meat bred in the UK, is not in fact bred here at all, but imported from a country where we have no control whatsoever over standards. |

I am sorry this will be a little bit out of topic. One of my students makes a report on bird flu, he is in 4th grade. He needs to choose the style of presentation, and he chose to make a film. I have no idea on how even to help him, it probably could be like news style, but what about the visuals, setting.

Loads of visuals available julia, both stills and film clips, just Google for bernard matthews avian flu, there is a good page of info on the World Health Organisation website as well.
I've not worked with video, so can't offer much advice I'm afraid. ![]() PS. Welcome to the forum ![]() |

My husband says the avian flu spreads with mosquito bites. Is it true?
As for my student I will give him the print outs i found here, and hopefully he' ll make something good out of it. It just needs to be creative and informative, so I thought of news style. |

No, don't think that is true Julia, particularly as when the outbreaks amonst birds over here were started it was winter and there are no mosquitos around.
The transmission from bird to bird is normally from bird droppings and shared feed as far as I know and the transmission to humans only takes place in cases where they work or live in very close proximity. ![]() |
