Default Exeter Canal

Today April 5th 2008 I went for a day out at the Exeter Grand Canal. A pleasant walk along to the Double Lock Gates, Lock Gate Hotel.
Along the side of the canal
Firstly a male Mute swan . I wondered where his mate was . I found here later sitting on a nest.He came very close and then took off.
Here are the photos I took on my way along the canal to the Double Lock Gates.
This is also a good place for cyclists rowers. walkers . wild life enthusiasts and Twitchers.

On my way back along the other side I came across the female swan having a feed and carefully watching here nest of 5 eggs. A few little birds , a pair of Little Egrets in flight but could only fit in the frame and last but not least a Peacock Butterfly. I had a very pleasant day finished by my son and his girlfriend collecting me and going for a late dinner at the Beafeater.
Here are the photos I took on my way back

Yes. It's not a wildlife site though. It's a shipping canal
