Default Swallows in France

I have no great photos because they are blinkin' fast, and my camera isn't. Even standing in their flight path and using the option that takes 40 shots, and with them getting up to about 6ft away, I still didn't get anything great.

The best shot is when they did briefly land on a branch. I was having problems working out if they were Swifts or House Martins because every time I saw something that made it one or the other, I found something that said the opposite. Until I found their call... no doubt that they're Swifts.

They spent a lot of time over where I was, swooping and swerving. I have a couple of photos of very battered butterflies that I assume got that way due to near-misses!

The film isn't clear, but does give an idea of their joyful swooping.

Film moved to post below.

Hi

These birds that you photgraphed in France are Swallows. Never easy to catch in flight but you have done good.

You know, I originally thought that they were, but was unsure so I checked their calls and that was when I decided that they must be Swifts.

... maybe that's their french accent
