Default Fly Robin fly, up up to the.....

Every winter we hang up a food ball for the Tits. In our grden there are many birds other than Tits, and they cast envious eyes to the delikatessen that is hanging there. So close but yet so far.

I noticed that our little Robin has been trying his luck, and it seems he is getting better at it. I haven't got a very good camera, but still managed to capture the Robin looking at the ball, and then launching himself up.
On one or two occasions he even managed to actually grab and hold on to the ball, but mostly he uses the hit-and-fly method

Clever little birds, aren't they? I like your second picture best, - a bit desperate but quite determined to have a go at the fat ball too!

Fly Robin Fly up up ... that's an old Boney M. song, isn't it?

Nice series of shots TeeGee, love the second one as well.

Perhaps you ought to put out some stuff for the Robin as well. Poor little devil.

Yep, the old Boney M song

Of course we put stuff out for the other birds, but the Robin seems to prefer the Tit feed...I saw him eating from the bird feed, but he keeps coming back.

We have three large apple trees in our garden, so even now there are a few apples on the floor which the birds pick on. We leave them on the floor on purpose, and some stay on the tree fairly late into the year if not picked. Especially our gang of Blackbirds like to pick on the apples.

Keep your eyes open for Fieldfare and Redwings at this time of year, they will often flock with Starlings and love fallen apples.

What I saw some days ago is a Bullfinch, we also got Wrens and a fairly large woodpecker, and a big Jay. These are our resident birds.

Not a bad selection, haven't seen a Bullfinch in my garden for 18 months.

Yeah, they are pretty rare. My wife reckons that they used to be far more common when she was growing up here. It is also quite shy, never had a chance of taking a picture of it. But will try

Default Mr. And Mrs. Bullfinch

Finally got them
Unfortunately just as I was getting ready to take some better images my wife arived with the kids and scared them away. And before I knew what was happening she cleaned off all the bird feed and put it somewhere else. So now I don't have them visible as before...

Patience can be rewarded, although a pity that you didn't get more time to look at them.. still "them's the breaks"
