Default Goldfinch

I have for the first time got a short video clip of what I think is a female Goldfinch in our garden. It is certainly a goldfinch but my question is, is it normal for them to be in the North East of England at this time of year.It is very cold?

Yes. They are found in the far north in farmlands

Oh By the way . The female Goldfinch has a red face like the male but the red area does not extend past the eyes as does in the male and is not quite so bright. Juveniles are brown.

Goldfinches are visiting my garden daily at the moment after an absence of about 2 months. It's great to see them back
