Default Gatekeeper Butterfly - Pyronia tithonus

Quite similar to the Meadow Brown, but has the double white dots in the top eye on the wing.

Equipment: Nothing but my notebook which is one of the most important parts of birding. To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.

Nice shots of the Gatekeeper Rolf. The weather really has to improve for the butterflies up here in the North. My sum total this year so far is......one or two Small and Large Skipper, a Comma, and one or two Wall Brown with absolutely not a cat in hells chance of Painted Lady or Clouded Yellow to date.

Pete.

I've got a couple of Small Skipper shots to upload and another which I'm not sure about, as some of the Skipper butterflies look similar. I also got a tatty painted lady and Peacock, which I'll put up later.
