Default Scarce Swallowtail - Iphiclides podalirius

This one captured in Cernay, France, a very attractive butterfly. Note that only one of the tails remain.

Equipment: Nothing but my notebook which is one of the most important parts of birding. To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.

If/when you see my contribution to your 'Tiger Moth' Rolf you will realise I've done my research on both it and this Scarce Swallowtail the sightings in our country of which should be treated with caution as they are very rare here and regarded as more likely to be the result of imports or/and introduction, both of which I personally deplore.

By the way Rolf, I appreciate yours seen in France.

Pete.

Lovely sharp images rolf, and what a lovely butterfly. I wonder where it's tail went to
