strange sky after the rain

these pictures were taken on sunday night after a heavy shower. the sun was going down but tried to break out from behind the rain cloud. it produced this strange orange sky. this is the true colour of the sky, ive not edited it at all. the second pic was taken only moments later.

Dramatic images Andy, and the fact you took the second one moments later makes it a quite incredible phenomenon. Once the sun has 'gone down' we could have seen the results of before and after as in these two images......but you say 'moments later'......amazing.

That's an amazing colour Andy, well captured, the speed of the change is equally interesting.

This is a phenomenon. It happens over Stone Henge where the sky can be normal one minute and purple the next.

i checked the times of the pictures. the 'orange' one was taken at 20-32pm and the next pic was timed at 20-33pm. the sky had been orangey for a few minutes before i went out to shoot it. then faded very quickly indeed.

To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.
