After my trek through the Jubilee Country park I sat on the low fence in the car park at the entrance from Petts Wood for about 10 minutes. I noticed some one had dumped a cage in the corner and thought why are people so untidy, then whilst resting proceeded to flick through my photos on my camera, I thought it might be a trap. Thinking no animal deserves to die in a trap I went to have a look. Well I was absolutely horrified to find the most beautiful British Blue cats with lovely copper eyes looking up at me. No way could I leave them. I phoned my son's girl friend and she phone Celia Hammond trust. They came out from Lewisham to Petts wood and took the two cats into safety. I said I thought one was unwell as it's hair was spiky. I was right, How ever they are now safe and in good hands.
I cannot understand the mentality of people who just abandon pets like this.

Equipment: Nothing but my notebook which is one of the most important parts of birding. To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.

A lot to be said here about the kind of 'monsters called humans' who do this to animals with no voice of their own, but in this case as far as the cats are concerned, in a word......SAD.

But sounds like a happy ending thanks to you Beryl......good for you.

Pete.

Strange and inexcusable, all rescue centres will take unwanted pets with no questions asked.

I know . It is heart breaking They were right out of sight to walkers too. I just happened to need a rest after my trek round the park , it's very big. I'm so glad I needed a rest

It's amazing isn't it? It's so easy to pass on unwanted pets - and British Blues would be snapped up quickly. In fact, when I made lots of investigations into a stray cat I was contacted by an animal charity to see if I needed help in rehoming. I didn't because I kept her... but when she keeps on at me for more food I wonder if I should have said 'yes'

Quite a few peeps passing stopped to ask questions and then said they would take them in but I declined saying they need to be thoroughly checked for any kind of illness and also exposure. I don't know how long they had been there. I had spent two or more hours walking round the park. Their safe and comfortable now
