Default Guess the bird

As I canīt see a general section I think this will be the closest for this quizz

I am from Sweden and we(of course) have swedish names for our birds.

I can only translate a few well known birds, like the Hawk

So I will present a bird here and You will try to guess what bird I am talking about. When You put Your answer here I will google it and A. find out if You are right and B. learn what they are called in English !

OK ? Here we go

The first one will be rather easy

Itīs a special bird, I have a few in my garden. They stay over the winter (canīt really understand that). I see them hiding food in the trees and I can also see them try to find it again

Whatīs make this bird special is that it is the only bird that can climb a tree with itīs head pointing to the ground.

Now what is this bird called ?

Default Guess the bird 2

This one is a small black and white bird (Mrs bird is more grayish )

Comes early in the spring and leaves in august. Insects lover, so I welcome them every year. The male is cheating on his wife so he can have more than one nest to feed

There might be plenty of small black and white birds so I will give You one more clue. Eggs are in a wonderful blue color with some dots on it. I usually find them some 50-100 meters from the nest.

Not too hard I think so the next one will be a little bit harder I hope

Looks like a young Willow Warbler or Chiffchaff Dig, but unfortunately the ringer is concealing one of the easiest recognition points, the legs. :

Equipment: Nothing but my notebook which is one of the most important parts of birding. To go out without it (which I only ever did once) is like going out without your pants on. I've never understood why I responded to the 'Cameras and Equipment' question in this way because in reality I own a Leica Telescope with eyepieces, Zeiss Binoculars, and a Manfrotto Tripod all of which cost a positive fortune.

Neither Willow Warbler or Chiffchaff but need time to study this one so may be too late if 'dig deep' comes up with the answer whilst I'm thinking......

Meanwhile I'll go for the starter with it's family which is 'Hippolais' then give the answer in full.

You are quite correct. The very answer I was going to follow up with as indicated in my last post.

Spot on Beryl and you don't need 'dig deep' to tell you either.

Well that only leaves the Ictarine Warbler - Hippolais icterina, but there looks to be too much dark under the eye. We only get them here as a passage visitor in mostly Eastern coastal regions.

Default Guess the bird 6

This is a more common bird, at least way up north

As usual, let us start by the English name and Latin for security reasons

Good hunting
