there are hundreds of these little cuties, on the costal path between caleta de fuste and nuevo horizonte, in fuerteventura.
they were introduced many years ago and numbers have 'exploded'.
they are quite tame and will take food from your hands. apple is a particular favourite. affectionately refered to as chipmunks, they are barbary ground squirrels.
they are a delight for the little ( and big) kids.
