on the duck pond
the local park duck pond was three quarters frozen over this morning.
most of the ducks and a couple of swans huddled into a small patch of water.the black headed gulls prefered to stand on the ice.
here are a couple of mallard and a white ''farm'' duck, on the water.

Nice. I'm surprised they are not skating. The white duck is a littl small for a farm duck looks more like a leucistic mallard we have some here We had 3 leucistic and one had 8 ducklings 4 snow white and 4 almost normal colour
Here they are.
The first picture almost grown ducklings hatched by a normal coloured female . The second is a pic the 4 almost normal and 4 leucistic and th las tois is a surviving duckling that is now a fully grown snow white duck with just a yellow beak and feet . no other pigment and they are males with a pathetic little squeak for a quack.there is a video of them some where in the video thread

Yes. Mallards do get around. The farm duck White Campbell or Perkin duck was bread from a mallard in China from what I have read. The are big and edible. They are gorgeous . The white ones here can't fly very far and stay in the brook.
I love the curly tails that Mallards have
