I just took this of the Dragonfly in my garden (obviously decided to live here for a while!), and the grey is looking a bit more blue now. I think that it probably is a blue version of the Migrant Hawker. I got this whilst shooting the same Painted lady as yesterday (same bites out of its wings), so they are obviously both resident :) The cat isn't happy about the new residents though ;)
Nice shot Louise, it's amazing how you can spend hours waiting for them to settle and then they'll perch in front of you and not move.:)

Yes they do tend to land in front of one. They can't move though apart from chomping vegetation and tiny insects, as they can't walk
Yep, it' unpredictable. I was chasing the butterfly when I saw this. took a few shots then decided to try with my other camera (for the real macro). She patiently waited.
mind you, I didn't - I quickly uploaded this but haven't even looked at the macro shots.
Oh dear, the macro shots aren't any better than this camera... so I added a closer shot from this camera and longer lens.
