Earthquake hits much of England
The biggest earthquake in the UK for nearly 25 years has shaken homes across large parts of England.
People in Newcastle, Yorkshire, London, Manchester, the Midlands and Norfolk and also parts of Wales, felt the tremor just before 0100 GMT.
A man suffered leg injuries when a chimney collapsed in South Yorkshire.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) said the epicentre of the 5.3 magnitude quake was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.

shaken..... and definetly stirred!!!!!
well the earth definetly moved for me!! at exactly 00:59 a.m. we were awakened to our whole house shaking violently. our bed was juddering and our fitted wardrobe door was banging. there was a low rumbling noise. the door as it banged together went ...DddddDddddDddddDdddd. it lasted around 5-6 seconds and was quite scarey. as soon as it stopped our 15 year old son tom came out of his room into us and said his head had banged against the bed frame. next door you could hear the neighbours shouting to each other.
it stopped as quickly as it started. our other son who is at home with us at the moment, didnt hear a thing... neither did my parents who live about 3.5 miles away. it took a while before we managed to get back to sleep, so i was glad that i was on leave today ( took my father in law to a hospital appointment), as would normally have to clock on at 6-15 a.m.for work.
my wife suffers with shoulder pain an felt that it was worse this morning, due to the juddering.
on the news an expert said that this tremor was petty much on time. as history shows that they average out to occur at similar periods apart, from the previous ones.
i cant remember a feeling like this one before... it was certainly an experience.
i,m in preston ,lancashire...the epicentre was in lincolnshire, so it was quite a way from where i live. goodness knows how it must have felt for those directly affected.
really bad quakes must be terrifying.:(
