Weird moth activity
This is an awful shot, but it was all I could get. The reason I am posting it is because of the activity that made me photograph it. I saw this pale moth flutter across the narrow river and then land on the water "Oops" I thought "...not a good idea". It then flew up, travelled a little further and landed in the water again. It did this a few times in what appeared to be a planned way. I've not seen that before!

Yep, never seen that either, obviously feed on the surface nutrients.

Did you ever find what that moth was, Louise, - or why it did that?

Well, it's hard to get any precision with such a poor shot, but I did find out about this one:Acentria ephemerella - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which is interesting as I didn't know anything about any water-based moths.
