New Zealand Kea
Hello All,
We were driving throught he Alps today, there wasn't alot of snow but we did find some NZ parrots called "Kea"
I wanted to get a picture of them. They are cheeky birds at the best of times.
I was trying to take photos leaning out the window and my husband was yelling "shoo get away" as he was worried about the car rubbers and doors being peeled off. I wasn't.
All I wanted was a nice photo and memory. Having the car wabble all the time wasn't helping at all.
Hope you enjoy the photos and maybe some of you have seem them up close too.

Well done Sitereh, nice photos. :)
I've seen a documentary on the Kea, they are indeed cheeky birds, in fact I believe that the farmers have had problems with them, as they had developed a habit of dining on live sheep.

Great captures Sitereh. Yes they are Cheeky :)
I saw a docu' on them too and they can strip a car of it's rubbers and wipers and mettle strips in no time

Thank you.
I remember camping in the mountains one year, a man had to leave early in the morning as he couldn't sleep, he spent the night in his convertible he was shooing all night.
We found our shoes and towles a few hundred meters down the track in the morning too.:-rolling

These are a really nasty piece of work and a bird I have truly never heard of before......I don't think. I learned something about the New Zealand Kea in this thread

I used to keep parakeets and Love birds( miniature parrots) so have seen a lot of video footage on all of them. And Yes a Kea can rec one's car but are still amusing. Mind you a pet parrot or parakeet can rec you house too

Thanks for the video clips I was amazed too at what they can get up to.
I do like the Kea, but I can't say I would if they did that to my sheep.
