new forest,
Hiya,
im planning a day doing wildlife round the new forest, having found that the reserve near ringwood will lend me a buggy while im there. I am getting excited to be going, what i need is other places to spot things and times of day to go there. Is it worth going there for the sunrise, as silly o'clock in the morning?
Are there any little gems round that area to visit??:flowers::flowers:

I don't know the new forest well . Hope you have a good time

Hopefully Catherine can give you some ideas, although she is probably still exploring.:)

Still exploring, Rolf? I'm here at your command, boss!:4-bounce:
Billy, I hope you enjoy the Ringwood experience. Please let me know how the buggies are as I have been telling others on BGB about them. Is it Blashford Lakes you refer to?
Re. where else to go, it just depends what you want to see. For Red Deer, you need to be near Brockenhurst, for Fallow Deer, near Lyndhurst, and there are Roe Deer all over the place! Sika and Muntjac exist in the New Forest as well I'm told.
Check this site for further info re. Goshawk nest, etc.

There are many Buzzards in the area, and you may be lucky to see a Raven or two. Sand Martins nest near the top of the cliffs at Milford on Sea, but you need to go down to the sea walk to see them properly.
Keyhaven is the place to go for sea and saltmarsh birds, but winter is the best time to be there. dartford Warblers and Whitethroats inhait the gorse areas between Keyhaven and Lymington.
Snakes and Lizards abound in the Forest just now. Adders are at Lepe (on the coast), and you might be lucky to see a Smooth Snake (e.g.) in Longslade Bottom, near New Milton. Common Lizards may be seen anywhere.
Google for other info and creatures you may wish to see. I hope you have a good time!:)
