Was sat in the Bittern Hide on Sunday afternoon and noticed a Sparrowhawk male fly across the lake and land amongst the reeds 100m or so away.
It was apparently waiting in the tall reeds for something to happen along.
I saw it re-emerge suddenly and took a couple of quick photos, not sure what it had captured, but it can't have been very big.
That's a great photo of the Sparrowhawk, but it's difficult to ID the prey.
It looks like a yellowish fish actually - but I'm sure it isn't!:)
I think that may be a bit of reed Catherine.

The only other thing (slightly) visible, is a greyish shadow under his feet - so maybe it was just a small rodent?
It does look like a fish, pity that it's just foliage :) An interesting bit of activity none the less.
Have looked at my other shots in detail, but none of them show much detail below the grass.
This shot shows a dark object in front of the claws.
