Red Kite - Milvus milvus
I've included this, not because it's a great shot of the bird, but because it demonstrates how we see the bird in this area. You wouldn't normally picture a bird of prey in a town setting, but they are very much at home here, and I associate them with rooftops, not treetops. :)
One website about kites (Northern Kites in Gateshead's Derwent Valley) says: "Kites require open farmland with scattered woodlands and trees" .. but not here they don't! :)

Yep, certainly at home in the suburbs, best place to see them down low.:) Was up at Ashampsted last week and there were now fewer than 10 of them soaring over a copse.

Great shot Louise :) I have never even seen one. Well done

Wow, Rolf - I've seen four in one go, but not that many!

I love the Red Kite's - we've had as many as 8 circling around our house this summer - I've seen them a lot overhead in town where I work in Henley - glad they have made a comeback:)

Wow, loads for you as well, stishaz? I'm obviously not living in a kite-desirable area :)
BTW - welcome.
