Leafcutter Bee - why they cut leaves!

I found these when moving a plant that was in the greenhouse - I was very surprised to find them in the pot just below the surface at the edge. They were so perfectly formed that I at first thought that the tube was one whole leaf rolled up, impossible of course. Beautiful piece of work. I have repotted them in their own little pot. I have a bee hotel which was used last year, but not this - but who cares if they find other places to do raise their young.

What is also interesting though, is that fact that you seem to have stumbled on a Bee which takes money and likes starting fires. ;)

Yep, I forgot to say that it's also known as the moneymaker bee... it leaves pound coins about :-)

Maybe you should try a breading program :)
