The end of the brook
This is the end of a very long brook coming down from Woodbury Common through Exmouth to relieve the flooding of the town.
Here the brook meets the Exe estuary. I'm standing on a bridge/ road of the last section some of this brook runs underground.
There are a pair of Mute swans by the outlet into the estuary.

Looks like lovely views from your your stood Beryl:)

Yes. You can see across the Exe to Powderham Castle and various other places if one goes to the end of the brook. I stand there for hours some times Right up close to the railway line
-
Nice one Beryl. It certainly looks like a bit of engineering with a purpose

Yes. Where I am standing in the photo is on a bridge across the brook. The bridge in fact is a road . The brook comes all the way down from Woodbury common to the estuary it's a flood relief after the floods of 1960 when Exmouth was under 4 feet of water

Is it still efficient nowadays?
-
Oh yes. we would be flooded if it wasn't there Down town is often under water if it rains heavily
The water rages down to the sea when we have heavy rain , washing all and sundries with it.
