Black Hoverfly

I don't know it''s Latin name .

aren't the wings lovely against the black. I had a hoverfly in my kitchen today. All I could hear was this big buzzing which made it sound like it was an ENORMOUS fly, but I just couldn't see it.
Eventually I spotted a little hoverfly. Goodness knows how he could make so much noise!

I know and they sound like they are wearing hobnail boots when they hit the window :-rofl

ROFL - well, I've not witnessed that, but I'll take your word for it :)

Lol I meant as they hit the window tying tog et out. I'm probably thinking of flying beetles
