Nice one Joe, Chaffinches don't seem to be able to perch too successfully on that type of feeder, Robins similarly.:)

If you check the Chaffinch's foot, Joe, you'll see why he cannot perch. He has been affected by the papilloma virus which hits many Chaffinches - like the one on this page;

Most of our Chaffinches can perch on those feeders, however infected birds just cannot grip, therefore have to flutter Humming Bird - wise to grab seeds from the ports.
We have afemale who does just that, and one of her legs has almost withered away now.:(
