It will be great for static insects, as I can tripod mount it and use a smaller aperture, must get a horizontal bar for the tripod. :)
Oh yes. Those horizontal bars are a really good idea. will one fit on your tripod? you need a special head.
The have them in Devon Camera
You can buy the bar with the head I believe.
It is very expensive though. I think the head is around £100
