Water Pipit ?
About 4 or 5 pairs of these warbler like bird landed in a field and were all standing like Mear Cats because a buzzard was sitting in a tree close by calling. It was rather amusing to watch as some of them nearly fell over backwards.
The thing is I don't know what these little birds are. They have black legs but I know they are not Chiffchaffs and are slightly larger. I think they are Water Pipits in summer dress.
I have male and female here
Looking at this site http://www.birdguides.com/species/species.asp?sp=118038

OK a friend has told me these birds are Northern Wheatears in eclipse plumage (winter colours) but also the the variations between male and female and immature birds to deal with.So what looks like a female could be a male
