Looking at the Crocuses on sale at Exbury, it was obvious that all the bees preferred the white flowers.
A Honey Bee and two Buff-tailed Bumble Bees were attracted to one particular pot. The Honey Bee buzzed off, but the two others held on - just - as they seemed quite drunk with Crocus nectar!:D

I wonder if the flavors differ in the various colours
Some flowers have ultraviolet markings that insects can see, so maybe they show up more on the white. Actually, thinking of UV, in discos (yep, I'm old enough to still think of discos rather than clubs), it's the girls in white who show up in the UV light, so I suppose that's why white flowers attract insects better.

I knew that purple and bluish flowers attract Butterflies, etc., but, until I saw the plants for sale on that bench, I didn't realise how much more attractive white crocuses were to Bees.
These flowers do have a purplish stripe - wonder if that makes a difference?
The Bumble Bees seemed SO s-l-e-e-p-y, and each tried to fit itself into a flower - as deep down as possible. It was only 13.49 (according to the photo info), so it wasn't that they needed to find a safe place for the night....
Glad you like them Beryl! Maybe the perfumes are noticed by Bees, and maybe these are more Bee-autiful on the white flowers?;)
I do notice Bees are fussy so some thing has to attract them to the different colours. I often find them in white flowers along the estuary :)
