Default Singing his heart out - Robin (Erithacus rubecula)

This chappy was singing his little heart out whilst trying desperately to hang on to the rather flimsy top of the fir tree in the breeze (and I was trying to catch him without a piece of tree being blown in front of him). It was lovely listening to him, but there was a tinge of sadness.

The reason for this sadness is that normally he wouldn't have had a look-in as there was an absolutely stunningly-voiced Blackbird who used that perch (the highest perch in the area), to sing his heart out. I have never heard such a singer. Unfortunately a week or so ago a dead blackbird appeared by the side of the road, and I've not heard his voice since, so I'm assuming the worst....

It IS a shame, but although the others may not have as good a voice as him... there seem to be Blackbirds absolutely everywhere!
