I know in the hide there was discussion bout what bird this was and i never heard the result.. can you guys help me out...
Loks like a Male and female Gadwall
The white Patch gives the female away.

Yep, male Gadwall in the first photo, there are a few of them around Lavell's. The second photo looks like a male in transitional plumage.
Thankyou, the light just caught the second one and made it look really lovely...
Yep of course Rolf is right both are males. The female doesn't have a black rear end (Sorry )

The plumage on that second bird is really amazing. Look at the patterns those feathers make as the thin stripes on them cross each other, making the stripes seemingly move as you look at them them!
I found Gadwall remains on one of my first visits to Keyhaven. A Fox had obviously been the reason for all those beautiful feathers lying around.
