Pythons are large nonvenomous constricting snakes found in Africa and Asia. They do not crush, but eventually, by tightening their coils around prey as it breathes out, the unfortunate victim is suffocated or suffers heart failure. It is then swallowed whole.
There are less than ten species of python in this group, among them is the reticulated python of Southeast Asia which is among the world’s longest snakes, regularly reaching lengths over seven metres.
