A serial egg collector has been sent to prison for six months.
Gregory Wheal from Coventry was sentenced by magistrates in the town on Thursday after pleading guilty to three offences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981), including possession of four peregrine falcon eggs and six raven eggs.
His conviction followed a high profile police operation involving West Midlands and Warwickshire Police and the RSPB, which uncovered eggs at several addresses in the Midlands.
With nine convictions in connection with egg collecting, Wheal is the most convicted egg collector of all time. He served a four-month sentence in 2006.
