Default Migrant Hawker - Aeshna mixta

I just took this of the Dragonfly in my garden (obviously decided to live here for a while!), and the grey is looking a bit more blue now. I think that it probably is a blue version of the Migrant Hawker. I got this whilst shooting the same Painted lady as yesterday (same bites out of its wings), so they are obviously both resident The cat isn't happy about the new residents though

Nice shot Louise, it's amazing how you can spend hours waiting for them to settle and then they'll perch in front of you and not move.

    Lovey shot Louise
Yes they do tend to land in front of one. They can't move though apart from chomping vegetation and tiny insects, as they can't walk

Yep, it' unpredictable. I was chasing the butterfly when I saw this. took a few shots then decided to try with my other camera (for the real macro). She patiently waited.

mind you, I didn't - I quickly uploaded this but haven't even looked at the macro shots.

Oh dear, the macro shots aren't any better than this camera... so I added a closer shot from this camera and longer lens.
