Some nice addys
Very good, Crister!
There's a 'Butts Ash' across from Southampton - and that always makes us giggle. A 'Slags Lane' near us always makes us wonder what happened there!
'UK'? I wonder if they are all in England really....?
Think there's more than a little photoshopping involved there.
Good fun nonetheless.
LOL - well, most of them are definitely true, although I think that Dildo is not UK. Busty view is in Chester-Le-Street and is named after a Beamish mine nearby name Busty.
Well, I went into B&Q a couple of years ago, was looking for something to add a bit of style to our fences, so asked two B&Q guys who were standing talking about their weekend exploits if they could tell me where I could find decorative knobs... and there was stunned silence!
Well, I couldn't remember the word 'finials'.
They sell knobs here though - Home - The Knob Shop Online
- and they are all perfectly respectable!
see i used to drive up the butts... now that always got a giggle... there are some brilliant uk place names...
Cumming street and Seaman avenue are in New York, in fact if you look at the apartments in the background there is an American style air con unit on a window. Dildo is in Newfoundland, but the others do appear to be genuine Uk addresses.
Nah - not for the UK ones anyway -
Slutshole Lane is in Attleborough in Norfolk
Butt Hole Road was in Conisborough near Doncaster - the residents got fed up of the jokes and it was renamed Archers Way
Bitchfield is in Lincolnshire
The Cumming St one looks like an American sign to me
My contribution - theres a small village near Ware in Hertfordshire named Cold Christmas
Apparently Sluts Hole Lane is a historical name - it comes from the Dutch words for Sluice - which would of course be involved in the drainage ditches scattered across the fens.
You no read my last post Ross.
He was obviously doing what most of us do, Rolf, which is to ignore you.
So very true.
Bow Butts is a little village near Stra'ven, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
It took its name from olden times when archers used to practise there. Probably that's why the road in Conisborough was renamed 'Archers Way', Ross!
(Rolf, I never ignore you!... Do I?)
We have 'St Mary's Butts' in Reading centre. There's a place called 'Upper Piddle' somewhere., ooh and 'Sandy Balls' somewhere in Southern England (may be your direction, Catherine)
Yes, Sandy Balls is a holiday centre near Burley I think!
The names of some villages down here never cease to raise a smile!
Dont forget Pishill
LOL, yes, the residents insist it's pronounced Pysle.
