So this year list the top 5 birds you aim to see sometime this year, or ones you dream of seeing this year...
Mine are
Kingfisher
Puffin
Barn owl
Im still debating the other two... im torn between a few...
Certainly Puffin is on my list, have to go up to Bempton Cliffs for that though, July time when they have young. Little Owl is also on my list, as I've not seen one, would love to get some photos. Will have a think about the others, although a Chough would be a nice spot, I can feel a trip to Wales brewing.
I'd need to list Puffin, but I don't know where or how!
The other 4... Goldcrests (IN the garden)
Lesser Spotted Woodpecker
White-tailed Eagle.. and Glossy Ibis!
Would that do?
ohh the chough i went to the nesting sites in cornwall, the lizzard where even my mum saw them in the summer, not realising what they were... ohh id love to spend a year in shetland!! lol
Sounds a good list to me, for you both gives me ideas appart from the glossy ibis... ive just applied for a job that means 6 months paid bird watching in scotland - bliss i call it..
THere are so many I would like to see it's not worth listing them
That sounds great Billy, wishing you luck with your application.
Fingers crossed for you, Billy!
(Can I come up to see you if you get it?)
Puffins is on my list to Visit..
shall we do a week away camping out for puffins...
Camping? LOL no, I shall be up at Bempton Cliffs in a comfortable guest house.
i was thinking camping more in the terms of us spending hours stairing at them, and staking out our view point... could get messy!! lol...
I was thinking a guest house sounds good, my mate is planning to drag me to farem islands- not sure on the spelling...
That'll be the Farnes Looks like a great place to watch Puffins and others.
I like Bempton because of the variety of birds and of course it isn't quite as far as Northumberland and the Fares, but they are only at Bempton during May to August and I've missed them on the two visits I made.
A closer trip would be Pembrokeshire http://www.pembrokeshire-islands.co.uk/
Ooh, Billy, I must have missed the comment about your job app - fingers crossed, a great opportunity!!
As for Pembrokeshire Islands, Rolf - I had not heard of them and was a little confused as I know where Pembrokeshire is but the names of the islands sounded more east cost North (I was thinking more Viking), then when I looked them up I noticed "...The Norsemen called it the "Grass Island"..." so realised why - the Welsh had been too lazy to get out and name them They sound fantastic, albeit involving boat rides, I'm not a great traveler
