Well, we don't have a large enough area to set aside as a wildflower meadow, but we still seem to attract wildlife!

The security light at the side (kitchen) door went on the other night. I looked out to see a Fox's tail do a U-turn and follow its owner back into the garden.

Our Hedgehog visitors still call every night, the favourite at the moment being 'Yip', the baby of the group.

We have Wood Mice, Field Voles, every 6 months or so a Brown Rat shows itself, and now we seem to have attracted a MOLE!!! Like the animal mentioned before it, we'd rather not cater for that type of wildlife, but are happy to see all the birds which call, especially those which sing for their supper, or add colour or personality to the scene. Even the Sparrowhawks Tawny Owls and Buzzards are good to watch!

Since Flies, Bees, Hoverflies, Butterflies and other insects enjoy visiting the garden flowers we have, and since I often think we have at least as many insects in our garden as others have in their wildlife meadows, I'm beginning to feel that the benefit of a Wildlife Meadow is very possibly overstated.

    What do you think?
