    Was out looking at a job this morning, when I saw this beauty sitting on a fence post in the adjacent field. Only shame was that I'd left my 500mm lens at home and had to use the 70-300 with the 1.4x converter fitted, also the ISO was set on 1600 (from the previous moth photographs) and in my rush, I forgot to set it to something less grainy.

    Still happy with getting so close though.

    Thanks all, was a little disappointed at being so stupid as to not check all of the camera settings, too exited you see.

    most of my efforts are digi-scoped, using an opticron hr66 scope, pentax optio v15 digital camera and homemade adaptor.+ a panasonic lumix fz28

    superb set of pics rolf... i echo the, 'no need for excuses', they are great... and so lucky to see this fantastic specimen. one of my alltime favourite birds.
