They are fantastic pics, Alan, but are they not Bank Voles?

I guess I'm wrong, I was going by the short tail. Another picture of my Basingstoke vole, and one taken the day before in Fleet. Is the Fleet one also a Bank Vole?
Apart from being very young the Fleet vole looks the same to me. But what do I know.
    I do find this interesting.
    Regards to all Alan

These voles are attracted by peanuts put to lure the birds.
I love to watch them when it's quiet on the bird front, I see them most days
The Basingstoke one was near a river, but the Fleet one was not.
They let me take their pictures and I pay them peanuts.

    These are super photos!

I'm not an expert on anything - never mind Voles - but when we first witnessed our little garden visitors, I checked MANY sources to ascertain what kind of Voles they were.

I found that Bank Voles are common in gardens, but Field (or Short-tailed) Voles are not, being much more timid and normally only in fields in the countryside.

Bank Voles have a reddish or 'chestnut' colour to their fur. The other type are more grey in colour.

Bank Voles have tails like the one in my first pic, but Field (or Short-tailed) ones have a much shorter tail.

The ears on a Bank Vole are more obvious.

Check on this site for Field and Bank Voles and see what you think yours are!

I guess it's a bank Vole, because of the Redish brown colour.

Alan, I might be a bit biased (as we have some here), but I think Bank Voles are the prettier ones anyway!
