Artificial bill for injured duck

A Taunton vet has successfully created an artificial beak for an injured duck.

The bird was found by a member of the public with a big chunk of its beak missing, in a badly distressed state.

Tim Wingfield constructed a beak using a special resin and a wire frame.

Yes . It is.
I saw it on TV tonight and the new Bill is lovely . I was so pleased for the duck because they showed the duck as it was when they found it and it was heart breaking to look at.

ive worked in wildlife rescue and all the places i have worked at bar one, would never release this into the wild. I do know a few that wouldnt go this far as it could be deamed unfair to keep a wild animal in a cage for its life. Some put them down if say a badger needs pinning, because in the wild that goes wrong its a slow death for the animal.

Think its good to do this sort of thing, but being in taunton i know the charity that may well be involved and lets say they have lovely ponds for the longer term residents..

Probably. The new beak is really nice . just like a real one
