    Default Banded Demoiselle - Calopteryx splendens

    I spotted this beauty by the Reading Town Centre Lock. He first landed on the ground in front of me and his wonderful 'butterfly' action caught my eye. I then followed him as he landed on a tree and proceeded to clamber all over it (him - not me!!).

    Although they are not too bad at this size, I am gutted that despite taking tons of shots I didn't get a shot good enough to make larger. I was either leaning forward or backwards, but I normally manage to get cleaner shots whilst doing that. It must have been the excitement making me shaky as it's the first one of these I have captured

    You did really well to record it, Louise! I especially like the first and third shots. It's a beautiful insect!
