    I'm not very experienced at water birds and I've not seen these on the canal before. There was a pair (identical), but I couldn't see anything in the book that stood out for me.
    I sure someone here will know what they are.

    "Nail on head" time - I forgot to look in the 'introductions' at the back of my book which is why I didn't spot her :-) Mind you, there were just 2 females and I expected it to be a paring rather than a couple of females. Thanks.
