I've not seen one of these in flight before so at first I thought that it might be a raptor.
There's something about the blank look in their eyes that makes me wonder if they are drugged up, though

Nice shot Louise, love watching them in flight.
They are MUCH more interesting n flight than when they do their statue impression. The shape of the wings is stunning.

Pure chance - I was by the side of the canal with trees on either side, so it came out of no-where and I got little chance to make any decisions... I was just lucky to already have the camera out even though I was not at my intended destination.. but I'm very happy at having got one of the 2 shots pretty much in focus.
