Good to see a Gannet frm the Ferry! / The light was very poor by the time i got to Dungeness. The Gull with Dark eye is Herring Gull in Winter Colour (as identified by the Staff at the Center) and the Buildings in the distance is Dungeness Power Station frm the Visitor Center.

Great shots, particularly of the Heron, Philip!

Dungeness is a very desolate place, isn't it? We have been out there several times on the Romney and Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - but in summer, when it didn't look quite as bleak.

Still, it is amazing how many birds you might see there, and how many plants which provide seeds for them growing amongst the shingle. Were any of the beach huts occupied just now? Did you see any Starlings, Goldfinches/other too?

Hope the visitor centre was open to serve a hot cup of tea!

(Thanks for the Shoveler ID, Rolf - Was about to look them up!)

Arriving in Dungeness frm Dover did not see Shingle Area that Dungeness is Famouse for and there was thick Snow on the Ground!
Staff at the Center said to walk around the reserve would take 2 Hours and the Center was closing in one hour!
Smew and Bittern were there in numbers had i had more time to view.
