    Don't often get these in the garden, but the snow covered fields drove them to the offerings of seed and suet.

    2nd shot is the best ive seen of Yellowhammer.

    Thanks Philip, probably the best I've managed, as I only normally see them from afar. That was taken through a double glazed window with light misty atmosphere, but I'm pleased given the weather conditions.

    Nice shots.
    There was an item on "Farming Today" this morning on the radio (I woke earlier than expected ) about a farmer in Norfolk who was growing a crop of mixed grains specially to provide a winter feed for migrant birds. When this report was being made there was a giant flock of Linnets and Yellowhammers - he described them as more in this field than in the whole of Norfolk, on what was essentially the largest bird table in the country. It was a larger than usual flock due to the North European cold, and they were discussing how the birds could know to fly here.
