    Default The Flying Dutchman

The local 'stray cat'. He was supposed to have been taken in by someone but I am fairly sure that he enjoys his freedom too much - '...wherever he lays his cat, that's his home".
So that's why I call him 'Dutch' - he wanders about like the Flying Dutchman.

Anyway, the reason I posted this is to show how thick his fur gets in the colder months. In the snows last January, even with the thick fur, he barged his way into the house to sit under the hallway radiator, but he's been happy to go no further than my front step so far this winter... although I do put some food out for him.

Looking at these Wild Cat images on Google - http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=en...w=1238&bih=788, don't you think there's a bit of that in him - especially the second pic? http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/wild-c...hoto-1015.html The dark tip to his tail is also a pointer to him having that animal's DNA -

You're right there, Rolf - he reminds me of Garfield, especially when he's staring in through the window
But I do agree with you, Philip, he's a cool cat - he struts about the locality as though he owns it.. because he does. Yet he's quite friendly (to me and my girl cat) and has the silliest baby miaow which rather belies the battle-scarred Tom he really is

I also agree with you Catherine, he does have a very wild look - and he seems to enjoy having his 'wild' life rather than being tied to a house... so maybe he does have a good portion of wildcat genes. He's a beautiful creature and has the thickest fur I've ever seen!
