    Default At Christchurch Gardenlands today....

    The pond outside Stewarts' Gardenlands in Christchurch is meant to be ornamental and for the Carp.

    However, Mr and Mrs Mallard have a different idea!

    Mr Mallard was in preening mode, while his missus felt the need to scratch, and scratch, and scratch!

    (Taken at the garden centre this morning!)

    Lovely shots Catherine, Mallards are beautiful little ducks, shame we take them for granted. I wonder how big the largest carp are, as they could potentially take ducklings.

    We wondered about that, Rolf. I wasn't sure if it is Carp or Pike which do that.

    Not sure if the Mallards will nest there - or are just enjoying a Fox-free break!

    I'm also unsure if the area would be Fox-free at night!

    Well Pike certainly do, but a large Carp would I'm sure be able to devour a first week duckling.
