    Default Last week's winds takes a couple of lives

    Unfortunately, the strong gusts of wind last week had at least 2 victims. Near where I work I saw these pair of (I assume ) Wood Pigeons. The nest was still in the tree, but was listing seriously.
    These shots show a little one up close, which you don't normally see, but also the variation in size of the 2. They are measured against a size 6 ladies shoe.

    Surprising differnce Louise, great shame, but at least Woodies are not in decline.

    That is so sad....

    Yes, I DO get annoyed with our Woodpigeons - always 'courting' noisily and being so greedy when food is put out, but I'd have been just as sad to have seen that as I would have had they been Goshawks or Red Kites.

    They were just babies...
